3 Ways to Keep the Magic Going When It Rains at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom

Rain or shine you are bound to have a magical time! Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom is surrounded by sunshine and gorgeous landscaping but did you know there are many fun things to do inside too? I’m not playing Pinnochio here. It’s true! Never consider a rainy day at the Magic Kingdom a wash! Discover three fun ways to keep the magic going for the entire family inside Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom when it rains!

3. Attractions

Did you know many Walt Disney World Magic Kingdom rides remain open during sprinkles and light rain showers? Most outdoor rides only temporarily close during extreme conditions so toss on that poncho and enjoy the short wait times during a light Florida rain shower.

Below is a list of the rides at the Magic Kingdom that CLOSE during extreme weather conditions.

  • Astro Orbiter located in Tomorrow Land
  • Seven Dwarfs Mine Train located in Fantasy Land
  • Barnstormer located in Fantasy Land
  • Dumbo the Flying Elephant located in Fantasy Land
  • Magic Carpets of Aladdin located in Frontier Land

2. Discover Delicious Disney Treats

It’s so easy to overlook fun and exciting Disney dining options when you are in the middle of a fun filled magical day!


I just recently discovered the “Vanilla Ice Cream Churro Sandwich” located at Sleepy Hollow Refreshments during a rainy evening at the Magic Kingdom. Despite eating at Sleepy Hollow Refreshments before, I never even noticed it on the menu.


Calling ALL quest lovers! If you are looking for a quick snack, head on over to Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn. The “Chips & Queso” will satisfy your cheese craving and make sure to take advantage of the salsa plus toppings bar!


Make a reservation ahead of time (we were actually able to get a reservation SAME DAY through the MyDisneyExperienceApp) and enjoy delicious Italian food at Tony’s Town Square Restaurant.

Tony’s Town Square Restaurant is located inside the Kodak Theatre Building directly to your right when you walk into the Magic Kingdom Park. Many people don’t even know it’s there! This Lady & the Tramp themed sit-down restaurant features Italian dishes, salads and wine!

3. Gift Shop Hop

Walt Disney World gift shops offer some of the absolute BEST Disney souvenirs and collectibles Walt Disney World Resort has to offer! Take advantage of the rainy weather and hop around the multiple gift shops inside Magic Kingdom. Find carefully imagineered hidden Mickeys and most of the gift shops located on Main Street USA are connected so there is no need to walk outside in the rain.

Fun Tip: Visit the Briar Patch Gift Shop, located outside Splash Mountain, and LOOK UP! If you look carefully, you can see the home where Briar Rabbit lives!
